CHANGI BEACH, REVISITED!!!!
Changi brings back the fond and wonderful memories for me..........I lived in Changi Prison quarters (my dad was a Prison Superintendent) for 20 years. It was an old British colonial semi-detached quarters and surrounded by lush greeneries.
We would go to Changi Beach very often for a swim or picnic.............ah, the beautiful beach with pristine white sand (which was unspoilt in the 70's) . Small chalets were built along the coast and available for rent (it was no bigger than a HDB room). During low tides, many interesting sea creatures such as horse-shoe crabs, seahorses, corals and many species of fishes were lying on the muddy seabeds!!!! . Life was much simpler and a day out to the beach was an enjoyable family activity!
Do come to Changi........................there are many activities which are lined up for you........take a nice stroll or jog to the
BOARDWALK, take a ferry to Pulau Ubin, rent a bike, roller blading, get a tan, enjoy the planes that go by,
cafes & hawker food are aplenty (yes, I will update more about makaning in Changi), visit a Spa, you can find many retro goodies, look out for Cockatoos & Hornbills (A Bird Sanctuary), enjoy the weekend getaways in
Changi Village Hotel or
Aloha Resorts etc.....................
Sitting by the beach, you can look out to the sea overlooking
Pulau Ubin, listening to the sways of coconut palms and waves rolling onto the white sandy beaches.
If you happen to drop by this blog...............do visit Changi...............you'll love the laidback ambience!!!!
Hopefully, Changi Village will be carefully retained!
